Bremerhaven

Had a great nights sleep and woke up to the smell of bacon cooking.  Matthias had cooked us breakfast and it was the best breakfast we’ve had in 5 weeks, hope we can resist tea tonight.  Drove into Bremerhaven, a port city of a 100,000 on the banks of the Weser River which flows into the North Sea.  The German country is so beautiful and so clean and tidy.  It is just turning to Autumn now so the autumn colours are coming out in force.  Can’t get over how flat the country is too, so green and fertile with crops everywhere.    Drove the long way into the city then walked around the wharf area for a while, had coffee then decided to visit an interesting building housing a climate exhibition.  Bremerhaven is on the 8th parallel of Longitude and a bloke from Bremerhaven followed the line around the world and they have made a whole building about the climate in each area.  Each area has multiple rooms in the type of climate at these places (Germany, Africa, Arctic, Pacific)  All are either freezing, hot, dry, humid.  Very interesting and took us about 5 hours.

Had a walk on the roof terrace, the sun has been shining most of the time but it is about 10 degrees and very windy.  Loving the change of weather and enjoy rugging up against the cold then getting back to a warm house.  Matthias and Carola had cooked us venison, wild boar roast, purple cabbage, a German dumpling and potatoes, had too much to eat again.  The beer and desert were in the pergola when we got home – it’s always colder out there than in the fridge at this time of year!!  Looked at Luke and Carolins photos of Sardinia and went to bed early and exhausted.
